Mythes, contes, légendes, parfois, les plus vieilles histoires sont celles qui nous inspirent le plus !
Les réécritures mythologiques, qu’elles soient basées sur un mythe en globalité, sur un personnage légendaire singulier ou sur la morale même d’un mythe, ont su trouver son lectorat ces dernières années en écriture. Mais comment travailler une histoire déjà racontée sous son propre prisme ? Comment, en tant qu’auteur.e, pouvons-nous, nous nourrir d’intrigues passées, pour créer de nouvelles perspectives ? Que recherche le lectorat spécifique des réécritures mythologiques ? Pouvons-nous aller plus loin que la réécriture des mythes grecs ?
Peu importe ton style et tes projets d’écriture, viens en apprendre plus sur les réécritures mythologiques afin de savoir les adapter sous ta propre plume d’écrivain.e et offrir une toute nouvelle vision d’une histoire si longtemps racontée…

Mythological retellings — whether they draw from an entire myth, a single legendary character, or even just the moral of a myth — have found a strong readership in recent years. But how do you tell a story that has already been told, through your own lens? As writers, how can we draw from ancient narratives to create new perspectives? What exactly is the specific audience for mythological retellings looking for? And can we go beyond the Greek myths that dominate the genre?
Whatever your style or writing projects, come and learn more about mythological retellings so you can adapt them to your own writer’s voice — and offer a fresh new take on stories that have stood the test of time…

Comment se passe les ateliers d’écriture chez Damn Fine Bookstore avec La Floraison Littéraire ? / What are the writing workshops like at Damn Fine Bookstore with La Floraison Littéraire?
De Janvier à Décembre découvrez des ateliers d’écriture spécialement conçus pour Damn Fine Bookstore ! Profitez durant deux heures, un mercredi soir par mois, de 18h30 à 20h30, d’un atelier en petit groupe autour de thématiques inspirantes pour vous offrir un temps créatif et vous permettre de vous lancer dans l’écriture narrative !
Les ateliers d’écriture sont ouverts à 9 personnes maximum et les inscriptions mensuelles seront ouvertes dès le lendemain de l’atelier précédent ! Les inscriptions sont individuelles (tu peux donc t’inscrire à l’atelier que tu veux sans forcément participer aux autres.). Afin de pouvoir vous accueillir dans les meilleures conditions, nous vous demandons de vous inscrire individuellement (1 inscription/personne), merci pour votre compréhension!
Les ateliers sont ouverts aux personnes anglophones, ils se dérouleront en français oral mais les consignes écrites seront en anglais et en français. Vous aurez également la possibilité d’écrire en anglais ou en français selon vos préférences. A la fin de chaque atelier vous repartirez avec vos exercices d’écriture, vos propres textes ainsi qu’une bibliographie selon la thématique de l’atelier.

Starting January to December, discover writing workshops specially designed for Damn Fine Bookstore! One Wednesday evening a month, from 6:30pm to 8:30 pm, enjoy a two-hour workshop in a small group around inspiring themes to give you some creative time and get you started in narrative writing!
Writing workshops are open to a maximum of 9 people, and monthly registrations will open the day after the previous workshop! Registration is on an individual basis (so you can sign up for the workshop you want without necessarily taking part in the others). In order to welcome you in the best conditions, we ask you to register individually (1 registration/person), thank you for your understanding!
Workshops are open to English speakers, and will be conducted in spoken French, with written instructions in both English and French. You’ll also have the option of writing in English or French, as you prefer. At the end of each workshop, you’ll leave with your writing exercises, your own texts and a bibliography based on the workshop theme.

Le prix des ateliers ? / Workshop prices?
Les ateliers sont au prix de 28 euros, cela comprend l’animation de l’atelier par La Floraison Littéraire, la préparation en amont de celui-ci, la mise à disposition du matériel d’écriture et une boisson offerte par Fiona de Damn Fine Bookstore (boissons chaudes ou froides préparées par Fiona).
Workshops cost 28 euros, which includes workshop facilitation by La Floraison Littéraire, workshop preparation, writing materials and a drink provided by Fiona of Damn Fine Bookstore (hot or cold drinks made by Fiona).
